Unconditional Love

There is no greater power in heaven or on earth than pure, unconditional love.

The nature of the God force, the unseen intelligence in all things, which causes the material world and is the center of both the spiritual and physical plane, is best described as pure, unconditional love. This God force is the oversoul to which we are always connected because we are localized extensions of that force.

I suggest you embark on an experiment in which you practice only unconditional love for several days. Vow to yourself that you will only allow unconditional loving thoughts to emanate from your consciousness. Make an intense proclamation to live unconditional love. During this time, refuse to have judgmental or critical thoughts. In your quiet time, think only peace and love. In all of your relationships, think and act in only loving ways. Extend loving thoughts and energy wherever and whenever you encounter anyone or anything. Become unconditional love for this period of time.

By pouring love into your immediate environment and practicing gentleness in all of your thoughts, words, and actions, your immediate circle of friends will begin responding in a whole new way. This act becomes expansive very quickly and you can radiate this love to your whole community. You become detached and loving toward all. You are not loving the hostile acts of others, but you are loving the spirit that is blocked in those who are harmful and unloving. When you can live this way and reject all thoughts and actions that are not of an unconditionally loving nature, you will experience the essence of your spirit and discover how to overcome limitations in your life.

What can you expect as you practice a few days of being total unconditional love? If all of your meditations are devoted to love, and if you pour love into every single situation and every single person you meet, and beyond that to everyone on the planet and to the infinity of the universe, you will feel yourself becoming a different person. You will sleep more soundly. You will feel at peace virtually all of the time. Your relationships will be more deeply spiritual. You will begin recognizing the “coincidences” of your life with greater regularity. Your thought forms of unconditional love will begin to produce what you desire without your even being aware of how it is happening. Your dreams will be more intense, and the vision of your purpose will become clearer.

You Can't Seek Happiness, but You can let it Sneak up on You!

Happiness is not something you can seek. It is a byproduct of doing things you love. When you follow your bliss you are engaged in activities which will lead you to happiness. Also it is elusive to those who seek it, it finds you if you let it. You only realize it after the fact, because you will find you were caught up in the journey and not looking for the finish line. Happiness just sneaks up on you!

"Have a nice day, somewhere else."
~Lemmy Kilminster

I once had an ex-fiance. I hated her so much she could strip my ability to speak when I had seen her. The words all became twisted and bitter in my throat and choked me, not her. She never felt the hate, it was only in my heart. It was only doing me harm. I love myself, so why was I hurting myself?

The flipside of it is when you love your neighbor, you are loving Christ. The circumpunct is a circle within a circle and the center of the Celtic cross. They said Christ realized he was god only when his heart was where that circle meets on the cross. Before then, he was just a man. Just like him we are god as well. To love god is to love our self. To love those you hate is being able to face the reflection of the parts of yourself you hate. To move past that is to truly love yourself.

So I sought her out and became friends. The attraction was gone, but I got to have a new friend. Most important I was not hurting myself anymore...

Welcome to another fabulous and wonderful week! Sometimes the stars have beautiful gifts for you; other times they have warnings. Nothing is negative, it is all in how you perceive it. A yank of the arm might just save you from walking in front of a bus... Everything might not go exactly how you want; just remember when the stars hand you lemons, remember to always make lemonade with a dash of love added... Fear and Desire

Early Christians and Buddhists tell the same story about a demiurge who created our world. Once he realized he existed and became self aware, he created fear that another was alive. Fear of that other would want to do him harm. Then when loneliness became too great to stand, he desired that another would exist. Even at the cost of losing his own life.

These are the two basic tenets that block us from our own Nirvana or Heaven on Earth. Just the desire for them creates the fear we will not attain that state. Fearful and lustful statues block the entrance to Buddhist temples. You need to overcome these two demons before you enter their sacred space.

I faced these statues in my own way one summer.

On the way to Marblehead from Salem on the bicycle trail there are two bridges flanked by two poles on each side on each bridge. They created an anxiety in me which caused me to overthink their spacing. I was not sure if both of my handlebars would hit them as I passed through, but they didn't. Even after I passed the first of the four, I still hesitated at the remaining ones. I desired to go through, but I feared I would hit my hands. For a month I over thought going through them, then one day I just went right passed these Buddhist sentinels without thinking about them. I was just enjoying the journey.

It is good to dream. The Hindus actually believe the Brahmin is a dreamer that opens his eyes and creates a new universe and closes his eye to make a new one in the morning. Dream always and it will shape your actions in this world. A dream is different than a desire, one is unconscious thought the other is conscious. Also a dream tends to be less logical in its course and allows for serendipity where the logic of desire may be rigid like an oak and can crack. Dreams are flexible like a pine.

Desire is to follow a star, but how do you know it is yours to follow. If you are staring at the stars too long, you are cutting your dreams short.

Your true star will just pull you like our sun pulls the earth. Your own star will do the same.

Another analogy is that everyone has their own stream and current. For the most part, you only need a inner tube and the good knowledge not to fight your way up stream and life will bring you where you need to be. At times you might find yourself in still waters at a fork, just know either path would be good, but different. Who is to say which is the road less traveled.

Desire has forced many to swim upstream all the way to the top of the waterfall, but no one has enough strength to summit the fall or hang on forever. It's a great fall once we let go to ourselves which disorients the ego just enough to let go of desire. Fear kept us hanging on to the top of the fall, but when we release ourselves to a higher power we find ourselves.

So just let go and you will find your life. Let go of desire and fear and you just might find your happiness. Even if it was not the Nirvana or Heaven that you were looking for, but it will be yours you will find.

Exercise and the New Year!

How often have you heard the expression, “No pain, no gain”? It can apply to many life situations, including exercise to shape up, tone or drop weight. But when pain is severe or prolonged, you gain nothing and stand to lose a lot!

There are a number of tips to help you stay safe to avoid workout injuries. Some of them include:
Warming up – Warm muscles are far less likely to tear than cold ones. So, if you’re going out for a run, walk a bit first, then trot before you go into full running mode. Stretching your muscles, especially the ones you’re going to be using, also helps you to avoid injury.

Cooling down – The same is true when you end an exercise session. You can’t just automatically stop when you are finished with your workout because this may cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure. Using running as an example- slow down to a walk again before you just stop your exercise. It’s also important to stretch out those muscles again.

Staying hydrated – Water, water, water! Drinking water before, during and after a workout replaces fluids lost from sweating and exertion, especially important in warm or hot weather.

Listening to your body – Don’t continue your workout if suddenly you find yourself in pain. Your body is trying to tell you something. Ignoring it can only make it worse, so stop whatever you’re doing and give your body a few days to recover before starting up again.

Learning the proper technique for the workout – Make sure you know the proper technique for any new workout routine you are attempting for the first time. Correct technique is as important as warming up to avoid injury.

The decision to exercise is an important one for your overall health – as important as diet and regular chiropractic care – to keep your nervous system fit and healthy. Remember to start out slowly, don’t overdo it and stop if you feel any type of pain, in order to avoid serious injury.

With the Love of the Angels,

Happy New Year

With the possibilities of the New Year coming up, and all the excitement tied to making resolutions, lists and hopeful improvements on the horizon, we may feel like we have the next 6 weeks to party, entertain and finish out 2017 without concern for all of the bad habits or weird choices we′ve made.

There′s a million ads, videos and TV shows telling us we have to completely change, lose 200 lbs., throw away our romance novels; whatever it is, we′re expected to make a huge shift for a huge gain. In the end though, studies show it only takes about 21 days to create a new habit or routine.

Whether it′s for health reasons, peer pressure or just wanting to break a cycle you are not benefiting from any more, why are you waiting? You don′t even need to be dramatic and drastic. Start small and it can add up in the long run.

In tarot the love card, two of cups, represents the love of yourself. How do you know who you want to love if you do not know who you are. This knowledge comes through love. If you do not know how to love yourself, how do you know how to love another?

If you don't know thyself, as plato said, how do you know what you want. Till that point, someone else is making your decisions. You do not know if you truly like vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Many people become indecisive and let us people chose for them till they come to this realization. So if you can't trust yourself to chose the right ice cream, how can you chose the person you want to fall in love with? Also be careful of those who will chose for you...

If you do not know how to love yourself, how do you know that when you are giving you are not being enabling? How do you know not to smother. How do you know to be truthful, if you are not truthful to yourself?  How to be faithful, if you have no faith in yourself?

So many come to me and ask about Love, but they should be asking about themselves first.

Overcoming Social Duty and Living Your Own Life

Each scale on the dragon "says thou shalt," is what Nietzsche had said. Who is the dragon? It is the abusive parent's voice in your head. How to remove it? Leave Plato's cave and see the world of the light.

Politicians, bosses, and harmful lovers can mimic the dragon's voice and lead us into an artificial life. They get into us like the fungi that infects and takes over the reasoning of the ant. When we are outside the cave we find ourselves. In the journey of the hero we learn to overcome selfishness for finding our self. Eschenbach in Perceval leads the Gral Knight to steal a ring from a married woman for he desires a token of love, but social duty prevents him from asking too many questions. He sees a maimed old friendly king and withhold his tongue from showing sympathy by asking what ails him.

Each time he holds his tongue, he lost the grail castle. Castles and mazes in fairy tales represent the labyrinths of our own minds. For the prize of the grail castle is ourselves. In Bruce Lee's Circle of Iron the prize at the end of the Wasteland was a book of mirrors. To have sympathy for others is to love ourselves. The hero in Lee's tale then has sympathy for the world returns to the wasteland to teach others to attain the book.

Who else had to face down social duty. Christ was tempted by the devil to return from the desert, the wasteland of Perceval, to return to his social duty to lead his ministry as ruler of the world. Buddha faced the same challenge. So Buddha just dropped his hand when faced by Dharma (social duty) and touched the earth and said, "Don't try to move me with this journalistic appeal. I'm interested in eternity." Dharma had called this prince to go back and rule his kingdom he left, which Dharma expressed was going through some disaster. He called on the Mother goddess to witness his right to sit under the Bodhi Tree. The goddess Earth answered, "This is my beloved son who has, through innumerable lifetimes, so given of himself, there is no body here." And with that the elephant on which the Dharma was riding bowed, and the army that came to force him to move was dispersed and the Buddha received Illumination. Illumination is the light from within which unveils your true being and self.

Now in Excalibur it was Lancelot who fought a knight in the woods to lift the visor to find he was fighting himself. Then Luke Skywalker faced Darth Vader in a cave. He fought him and struck his head from his shoulders. When he lifted the visor to his helmet he found his own face staring at himself. In ways we all become our parents, until we are conscious to become better. Even children of perfect parents, need to become better than them. It advances us as a whole. Every good teacher wants their students to return to teach them something new. Farmers send their sons to agriculture colleges to return to the farm to teach them something new. That is what a doctorate is, one who returns to add to the art (beauty) or science (truth). We only can return to face our parents, the dragon, in their cave only after we face ourselves. Only then we can move beyond the Thou Shalt Dragon.

For the dragons and Vaders only digest the truth. In alchemy this image is represented through a series where the king eats the prince, digests him, and sweats him out. In the final image the teacher, prince, and king are equals. We only can return to face them once we find our truth. Which is done by overcoming social duty. For social duty can sometimes be the myth of the leming. Society needs the brave selfs who leave the cave who enter the light that return to teach the brave to find themselves as well.

Who are Psychic Vampires and 4 Ways to Deal with Them

"One thing about living in Salem I never could stomach; all the damn vampires."

~Lost Boys

Well before I go on, the picture above is of a synagogue on Essex Street which is now the auxiliary parking lot for the Hawthorne Hotel which is consecrated land. It's a good place to hide from the vampires in town...

There was a high priest of a vampiric order in Salem from the NYC chapter who used to do outreach for those people who had a fetish of drinking each other's blood, but what was more important with his mission was how to curb people from draining energy from people without their permission.

Christopher Lee was pretty cool in those Hammer Horrors, but vampires are not immortal, they don't have super human strength, they don't turn into bats, but they can drain the life out of you...My friend tried to teach those people how not to. Till he converts them all, let me help you a little.

Have you ever got caught in a conversation where you start staring at your watch, you have not been able to say anything for the last 20 minutes, the person across from you is telling you their whole life story filled with pain and sorrow, and you walk away like you had just lost 5 years of your life. You have been bitten.

Have you been in a bar and had a woman come up to you and talk you up, and just walk away? Then you see her flirting with ten others before the night out. You all have been bitten.

Have you been in a coffee shop and you start to speak ten times only to be spoken over by another at the table, you have been bitten!

Do you ever feel good about giving change to panhandlers, but sometimes you walk away feeling like your bank account has been emptied, or better would of gladly handed over the contents of your bank account to get back the last 5 minutes of your life. You have been bitten.

Who is prone to these attacks? The strongest of us. Do they write articles defaming the character of the man living in a refrigerator box or the latest movie star? The movie star has more psychic energy to draw from, the man living in the box has had his life drained away years ago. If you had found yourself a favorite for bullies on the playground, it was because you shined.

There was something amazing about yourself. The bully was jealous of your free nature, your fashion, your caring, your wealth, your health, or happiness. Many times a bully comes from a broken home and at times the victim is from a better family environment. Needless to say in some fashion the victim had great wealth of spirit that the attacker felt compelled to take from you. Those who have the most energy shine bright.

These people tend to be great healers, but the downfall to them is that vampires are selfish. They honestly are looking for help and they cut in line before all others to access these healers. Their selfishness leaves them with the inability to listen or converse through their problems, so they can only drain the healer and become dependent on them. They transfer their pain to them and take their joy in exchange. Which is easy for most listeners want to give joy. In the end, the psychic vampire never learn to do for themselves. In this way healers feel drained and burned out and are remiss to help others later. Especially after years of watching those they tried to help never grow. These are lessons us Salem psychics and healers must learn so we don't get burned out. For Salem is a city of transformation; give us your tired, your poor, those who feel strange, and those who are broken.

Many times the aggressive vampires act out as bullies when they are younger, but then over time realize it is much easier to be a passive vampire and be fed by other people's pity. In the first form they have to fight to steal a little feeding, in the later they are given a much larger feeding without much effort through pity.

These are the more mild forms of a psychic attack. Worse forms of attack can manifest from physically or emotionally abusive family, friends, or lovers. These people outside of family we had to invite into our lives; just like in the myths. The good thing is we also have the power to ask them to leave. They only can stay as long as we give them permission. This form of vampirism would need a much larger article and years of therapy to work out, so I will give you 10 steps on how to  protect yourself from the casual vampiric encounter.

1. As you are approaching a stranger who feels a little off, standing in place, and they are scanning a crowd to make eye contact; keep walking. I used to make the mistake of smiling at them. I had a need to spread a smile and be acknowledged, and they had a need to be acknowledged. They would stop me versus another. By all means wave and smile at all you walk past in your life, but those who are not vamps probably will not stop and talk to you until they have seen you wave a few times. On other occasions, those who do engage you right away who are healthy feel like they are giving you something, not taking. These people make you spread a smile to the next person. Their persona just radiates toward you, the vamp's being just sucks the air out from around them. It is not the clothes, hair, or cleanliness that your decision to avoid them manifests from but their body language and a sense of dread around them. When approaching a vamp look above their head or at something in the other direction and focus on it and keep walking. Those who shine more have to work harder to ignore them, because they can sense you out. Have you ever felt, that if there is someone who is crazy in the room they tend to B line straight toward you...

2. Do you ever find yourself being the town psychologist? First ask yourself, do you need people around you to be broken so you can fix them? If so you might be a vampire yourself... If you have an aptitude to listen, hear, and help you need to know who you can help and who are just draining you. This is important since the world can use all the help it can get and the more healers the lighter the burden for all of us. We do not need more Buddhas, Jesuses, Krishnas, or Mohameds, but more Frank, Bobs, and Joes. There are just more of us and we don't have to wait 2,000 years for them to come back again. Also if we did more for ourselves they might of shown up more than once every millennium.  So only help those who help themselves, show growth, who converse with you, help brainstorm, and do not identify themselves as victims. Because it is important not to become so jaded that you never want to help anyone again.

3. Analyze your friendships. Do you have any friends who only call when they have problems? Do you have any friends who talk at you for over 20 minutes and only let you interject occasionally. Do you ever have any friends who ask you how you are doing and you get only 2 minutes before they go on about their life? Do you have any friends who praise you in private, but deface you in public? One thing I have learned is, a friend who is always sharing more problems than others who asks for discretion probably has told the same story word for word to at least 20 others. Never feel like you are abandoning them to themselves. Good advice from Suze Orman is, "I am perfectly happy to talk with you about your problems, but when you refuse to listen to any possible solutions or let me help you feel better I need to step away."  You're better off helping the hitchhiker who needs a ride to the gas station or a jump start, the man with his arms full who needs the door held, letting someone into traffic, comfort the sick, comfort those in mourning, bring chicken soup, lend money occasionally, invest in dreams with firm foundations, pay better wages, hold the ladder, help those studying, and always help brainstorm. And always share your greatness, avoid those who steal it.

4. The opposite sex. When single and a person approaches you, just be in the moment. Don't jump to marriage, security, dating, end of loneliness, or sex in your mind. That way you can acknowledge a person who could be boring or draining and those who made you smile. Never lose that moment's smile for a desire. The Buddhist find life simpler when they give up fear and desire. If you desire something you may create fear you might not attain it. If any of those things happen (marriage, dating, sex), this way you did not miss any part of the journey. On average they will not. Also on average we always feel bad when we realize they didn't. So when you conquer desire you stop seeing people for what you want to see and see their true self. Vampires will allow you to see in them what you want, as long as they can feed on you. You want to see them as a bat, they are a bat. You want to see them as a wolf, they will be a wolf. Also the myth says you can not see them in a mirror; that is because you do not want to see their true self, only what you want to see. Also if you desire a relationship, a vamp will build your desire up by flirting hard to just drop you harder when they walk away. Also vampires tend to have many fawning over them like bees to honey and are cruel to them all. Avoid those with many people of the opposite sex clinging to them.

The 4 methods of dealing with psychic vampires above deal with passive vampires. Aggressive vampires need much more work and professional help to overcome. They appear in abusive marriages, middle management, and politicians...

A last side note, politicians. With royalty or powerful merchant families there tends to be a series of inbreeding and lack of parentship. Both parents are socially motivated and leave their children to a series of nannies or secondary caregivers. This leads the children to learn to do for themselves and a series of abandonment issues. Plus a feeling of self loathing when you can not even get your parents say you are wonderful against all of those opinions they carry home from the bullies. Merchants marry their children to others in their class to avoid competition by having new talent in their company, match degrees, to consolidate companies, and to avoid fears of being different among many others. The truth of the matter nobility just are a merchant class with patents. Rockefellers are just nobility without a king. Plus what a child does not learn, it can not teach as a parent. Like minds attract, then they marry. So we chose or are left to accept these child-kings to govern. They do not know when they enable, do harm, help, or destroy. It is like letting the guy who failed physics and chemistry run the nuclear power plant! Also remember the vampiric politician spend millions to convince you to allow them into your life and make you believe what they want. If you didn't have the power, they would not spend so much to steal it from us.

Yes, I know it was a tangent, but a good one...

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury is still in retrograde, but this is the last week before the new Moon in Sagittarius. The week before a new Moon is always a time for winding down, wrapping up and being on hold. This can be a good week to clean up a lot of old business or misunderstandings, but a bad time to make any life changing decisions.

The good news is there are no negative or harsh planetary events this week, and in general, this can be a more relaxing period to tie up loose ends, catch up or reconnect with old friends and loved ones, being willing to start fresh and show forgiveness.

The Power of Crystal Healing

Crystal healing works by taking the essence of that stone′s energy, and blending it with your subtle body to create a remedial vibration. It′s a question of restoring harmony. This is why some stones are better for some ailments, and other stones are better for other afflictions.

If you look at the word disease, it′s actually a compound word, taking the root ‘ease′ which means comfortable, harmonious and relaxed, and adding the prefix ‘dis′ which adds a negative or a reverse force. Therefore, the very definition of disease means to have your ease negated.

Crystal healing works by using stones which will bring that area back into balance, back into ease and comfort. Every gemstone vibrates at a slightly different frequency. That′s why we see them in different colors. What′s more, gemstones in the same family will resonate at consistently at the same vibration. This is supported by the way quartz is used in electronics.

It′s resonance is known, and predictable. However, even in the same stones which vibrate at the same frequency, there are subtle differences. Quartz, for example, can be clear or milky, single terminated or double, have inclusions or not, and more. Just like blue jeans are blue jeans but you might prefer a different hue or different cut, quartz is quartz—but you may resonate with one stone more than another.

It′s possible to buy stones mail order to use for healing, but it′s even better when you can hand pick them. That way you know you′re choosing the ones that call to you, rather than just the ones that will do the job.

Have fun looking for your favorite stones that will help you.

Faith is the complete reliance on the power and goodness of Spirit and the firm belief that you are always connected to this goodness. Always affirm your faith and not your doubt. When you affirm that things might not work out, that your troubles continue to mount, that your problems are insoluble, that God has not been listening, or that you are powerless in the face of so many struggles, you are affirming doubt rather than faith.

The ability to know faith and affirm it allows it to manifest in your life. In John 14:27, Jesus said, “My peace I give to you.” This is an affirmation of faith. He certainly wasn’t suggesting that peace is very difficult to have and you must struggle for it. Jesus brought peace to everyone by affirming it.

Likewise, in his healing work, he didn’t imply that we haven’t been having a great deal of success lately with leprosy, but if you listen to me you have a thirty percent chance of surviving over the next five years. Instead, he declared, “You are well,” affirming faith at the highest spiritual level, and healing took place.

You too must learn to affirm your faith in the face of doubt with thoughts that things will work out, things will improve. Think, write, and say affirmations like these:

I intend to create prosperity.
I’ll do what is necessary to eradicate this problem.
I know I am not alone.
I have faith that all is for good.
I give no energy to the negative because I know all is in divine order.
I will consult with God and know that I will be guided to do what is needed.

These are all affirmations of faith, which, when practiced, will permit you to say “no” to doubt and “yes” to life. Try these, they do work.

11:11 is a powerful day indeed! There's no denying the potency of this frequency. Even the most discerning skeptics find themselves seeing the numbers 11-11 repeatedly and wondering what it means. 11:11 is divinely designed.

There is a sacred geometry to this number that illuminates its purpose. 1 acts as a conduit between Spirit and Matter - somewhat like an antenna. There's a quickening when this number is activated - your thoughts send out messages to the Universe more quickly, AND you can receive insight and inspiration seemingly out of thin air.

When you double the number 1 to create 11, this magnifies its power exponentially, creating a sacred geometry that represents a gateway into the higher realms. 11:11 creates a mirror gateway. This amplifies the power of the 11, and reminds you that in the world of Spirit, there is no past, present or future.

You can actually change the energy of the past, by healing your emotions and atta

Let this powerful day be a reminder to you to allow yourself to experience the full range of your emotions. You can heal yourself by allowing yourself to feel your feelings without blame or shame. The Light of your Consciousness will shine light on those parts of you that have been hidden in your shadow. Enjoy the Day even if it is a little cold. The Sun is out and it is nice and clear.

Discover Healing Secrets of the Ancients

Why Did We Forget...

Crystals and gemstones can be used for many types of healing, including physical, mental and emotional relief. They are particularly good when you are ready to transform old negative patterns that block out greater happiness and success.

And the wonderful thing about working with crystals is that they never cause any harm! In fact, crystal healing is an exceptional compliment to other forms of emotional treatments and can be used so easily that anyone can benefit from its power.
On the cellular level, our human bodies and quartz crystal are both made up of mineral silicondioxide. This vibrational resonance makes us naturally receptive to the vibrations of crystals as they reflect, transmit, receive and store energy.
That’s why, when you place crystals directly on your body, they have a powerful vibratory effect that transfers from the crystal to you.
In addition, as we now know from the law of physics, thoughts direct energy and energy follows thought. Which means when you use crystals and gems with conscious awareness, you can supercharge their positive effects!

Being Open and the Law of Attraction

The law of attraction states that what you focus on grows. What that means is what you think about and obsess about is what you are going to attract into your life. If you are focusing on keeping that wall in front of you nice and sturdy, sound, and impenetrable, then you′re not going to be able to allow anybody into your life in a truly authentic way, no matter how hard they try to break that wall down.

If you have decided there is a wall, you are attracting safety and security around your heart, and aren′t going to succeed in your wait for someone willing to break down that wall. If you have decided to be open and loving in relationships, then you are going to attract those open and loving opportunities and experiences in love. If you are single, you are going to attract more people who are willing to get on this page with you.

Trust me, being open to new people is very attractive and even very sexy. If you are attached, then once you make that choice to be more open, you also make the choice to elevate and uplift your current relationship. Secrets and walls break down relationships faster than true feelings and authentic words. It′s really that simple, and it really is your choice. What do you choose?

Families...and the Holidays!

Far too many of us suffer from the pain of family get-togethers, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Somehow we allow the expectations and demands of our family members to be the source of so much unhappiness and stress when what we really want is to be authentically ourselves and at peace with our relatives. The conflict seems too often to be a choice between being authentic, which means no peace with certain relatives, or having peace at the price of being inauthentic. First, though, you may have to assess your relationship with the closest relative of all—you.

In order to change the nature of family relationships, you’ll have to change your mind about them and consider that you are the source of the anguish in your relationships, rather than the individual whom you’ve pegged as the most outrageous, the most despicable, or the most infuriating. Over the years, all of these individuals have been treating you exactly as you’ve allowed them to with your reactions and behaviors. This can miraculously change when you choose to be at peace with your relatives.

If the focus of your inner dialogue about your family members is on what they’re doing that’s wrong, then that’s precisely how your relationship with them will be experienced. If your inner speech centers on what’s annoying about them, that’s what you’ll notice. But if you’re thinking, I am authentic and peaceful with this relative, then that’s what you’ll experience—even if that relative continues to be exactly the way he or she has always been.

The key to having peace in all your family relationships is forgiveness. Your relatives are simply doing what they’ve been taught to do over a lifetime, and the lifetimes of many of their ancestors. Shower them with understanding and forgiveness from your heart. Rather than being in a state of non-peace concerning any family members, say a prayer of gratitude for their presence in your life and all that they have come to teach you.

The likelihood is great that you’ll see dramatic changes in your relatives as you teach them with your own persona how you intend to be treated. But if they don’t change, and if they continue their non-peaceful ways, let go of your need to see them transformed. It all works in divine order, and the saying Let go and let God guarantees your own peace, and you dramatically increase the odds of helping others to do the same.

Good time to do this at Christmas send the words of peace and understanding.

Everyone wants to be liked. The harsh truth is not everyone is compatible with everyone else. There are always going to be people who just rub you the wrong way—and you're included in that, too! However, there are some simple dos and don'ts when it comes to courting favor with others. Follow these simple tips, and you'll start to see your popularity improving.

1. Remain Open Minded Nothing′s such a turn off as when you're talking to someone and they simply refuse to hear what you have to say. Make sure you′re not guilty of this, by listening to what other people want to share with you. You don′t have to like it, you don′t have to agree; however, both parties can learn a lot if they remain civil and willing to consider what the other person is saying. The more approachable you are, the more people will warm up to you.

2. Avoid Gossip This might seem like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised how easy it is to get drawn into talking about someone else. A general rule of thumb is if you wouldn't say it when the person was standing next to you, don′t say it when they′re not in earshot. If you′re in a group where others start talking about someone behind their back, it′s best to walk away. Even if you weren′t involved in the conversation, your presence there might easily make you look guilty by association.

3. Remain Mysterious Sharing too much too soon is a good way to distance people. Everyone has their own set of problems and issues they′re dealing with. If you′re too open about what′s going on in your life at the start of any relationship, you might come across as self-absorbed. Remain a bit reserved about what′s happening in your own life, and try asking the other people about their interests instead.

4. Stay Humble Just like everyone has their own set of issues with which they′re dealing, everyone′s had their 15 seconds of fame, too. No one person is greater or lesser than anyone else. Boasting about where you′ve been, what you′ve accomplished, or who you know comes over like a cry for attention. Don′t fight to make your presence known by name dropping or trying to appear better than someone else. It will only estrange people from getting to know the real you.

5. Remain Calm Throwing a temper tantrum is a child′s response to what they dislike. It′s not a particularly effective way to make your point known as an adult, no matter how angry or hurt you may be—and may actually complicate things, or draw negative attention your way. If you feel your blood pressure rising or the tears about to fall, excuse yourself and seek somewhere private to regain your composure. This doesn′t mean you have to be made of stone or never express your emotions, but there′s a time and a place for doing so. The start of a relationship or when you′re first getting to know a new set of colleagues or teammates is not that time or place. There′s a time and a place for doing so.

6. Pay Attention Nothing is more of a turn off than people who aren′t respectful of others. Imagine how you′d feel if you were confiding in someone and they just got up and left the room! Playing with your phone in the middle of a discussion is exactly the same thing. We live in a technological age where we′re constantly connected via cellphones and social media, and it often means that priorities get inverted. Unless it′s an emergency call, leave the phone alone when you′re socializing with others. Society managed without mobile phones until the last couple of decades. You can manage without yours for the length of a conversation.

7. Remain Cheerful There′s an old saying that misery loves company, and while some people take great satisfaction in bringing others down to their doleful mood, it′s not exactly a way to initiate closeness. People who complain too much come over as victims of their circumstances. It′s also possible to be too serious—even when it comes to a hobby that ignites your passion. Being engrossed in your work or your project is one thing, but remember to make time to play, too. This not only helps to keep you rejuvenated and refreshed while you′re focusing, but it confirms that you know how to balance lightheartedness with determination, making you desirable when it comes to team efforts.

Conclusion You′re never going to please all of the people all of the time, so don′t even try. Let the people who don′t like you be entitled to their opinion—after all, it′s a viewpoint, not a fact. The most important things are to follow your heart, look for reasons to be happy, take time for others, be respectful, and don′t make any crisis into a drama. If you can do that, you′ll find that not only do the people who can help you achieve your goals start to appear in your life, but you′ll also be leading by example for others. It′s a win/win situation, all around! Very Good Advise for all of us.
